HRCSA Corrosion Mitigation Certification.

Contractor's HRCSA Application Knowledge Elements.

HRCSA is a Maintenance Coating

HRCSA used on:

  •  Flexible Steel Structures
  • New contaminate free steel
  • Prepared and contaminant-free Aged steel
  • Prepared and contaminant-free A588 weathering steel (Corten Steel)
  • Prepared and Oxide-free galvanized steel
  • Surfaces approved for overcoating below:
  • Prepared and contaminant-free Polyurethane
  • Prepared and contaminant -free Epoxies, Epoxy Mastics and coal tar epoxy,
  • Prepared and contaminant-free Acrylic Latex
  •  Prepared and contaminant-free existing aged lead paints,
  • Prepared and contaminant-free aged vinyl,
  • Prepared and contaminant-free organic or inorganic zinc,
  • Prepared and contaminant-free galvanizing and metallizing,
  • Prepared and contaminant-free tightly adhered flash rust, black oxide layers ≤ 1/64"

Acceptable Surface Preparation Standards for HRCSA

All AMP, SSPC, NACE And ISO industry standard surface preparation methods including the below:

  •  SSPC SP-5,-10,-6,-7 – Dry Abrasive Blast
  •  SSPC WAB-5, -10, -6, -4 Wet Abrasive Blast (crushed glass, High pressure hot water washer, blast pot and drier system, oil free air compressor)
  • SSPC SP12 WJ4 – High Pressure Water Cleaning Standard
  • SSPC SP3 and SP11 – Power tool Cleaning Standard
  • Field Methods for Extraction and Analysis of Soluble Salts), Manufacturers Acceptable Levels NVC 3, NVS 10, NVN 10  Test using a CSN Test Kit
  •  ASTM D4541 – Pull-Off Adhesion Test for Determining Suitability for Overcoating

Enclosures.

  • Road or filter cloth used for paint chip/debris containment and collection on the ground or scaffolding
  • Full containment for High Pressure Water Cleaning using flow-through tarps and a sealed platform with water collection in a sump (photo above)
  • Collected Wash Water is filtered and recycled via: Flocculation tank to remove solids, 25-5-1 micron filtration system to remove heavy metals and micro particles
  • Filtered water is recycled for use and can be accepted by wastewater treatment facilities

Crevice Corrosion and PackRust

  • [If Abrasive Blasting]: Tape off crevice corroded and pack rusted joints and connections during dry abrasive blasting to prevent pore clogging. Remove tape once finished.
  • High Pressure Water flush with salt remover. Thoroughly flush out crevice corroded joints, bearings, and connections (SSPC SP12 WJ4) NVC3, NVS10, NVN10
  • Blow Dry all crevice corroded and pack rusted joints and connections with 100 psi clean, dry, oil-free air.

Crevice Corrosion and PackRust

  • Inject HRCSA Penetrant/Sealer under pressure until refusal
  • Allow a dwell time of 5+ minutes, then brush out excess penetrant/sealer material
  • Spray or brush in wet on wet a caulk or stripe coat of HRCSA Self-Priming topcoat over penetrant/sealer treated areas
  • Ensure a minimum of 15 to 18 wet mils of HRCSA Self-Priming Topcoat in all Penetrant/Sealer treated areas
  • Complete job with a full wet-on-wet spray finish on all areas to be coated to manufacturers specified DFT
